Here’s some terms that SEOs bandy about to try and make themselves look clever.

S.E.R.P.

This is the big money, it means the Search Engine Results Page. It’s the results that a Search Engine shows to a user after they’ve typed something in an pressed enter. One of the interesting things about S.E.R.P. (SERP or some people even call them S.R.P.) is that Search Engines don’t really like indexing them. Can you imagine the massive gravitational field of shit that would be generated if Google indexed Yahoo who indexed Ask who indexed Goo who indexed Google. What a bag of shit that would be.

Ranking

This is meaning one single entry on the SERP page, usually there are ten rankings on a SERP from different sites. It has been known that people refer to two rankings in the singular when the second is an indent.

Indent

Particularly Google, some Search Engines put a second ranking for a site under a primary ranking, this is decided by content proximity. If a site has 2 distinct pages with different but related content, Google can decide to show a ranking for each page in the SERP, the second ranking is indented.
